In 1229, Montfort castle was sold to the Order of the Knights of St. Mary's Hospital ( Teutonic Knights ) , and was renamed in Starkenberg ( strong mountain). Since 1266 attacked by the Mamluks and 1271g . it was decided to hand over the fortress to save the archives and treasury of the Order , which were subsequently moved to Acre .
