The village is the center of the same Petrine rural district Sonkovskogo district. It is located 11 kilometers north- east of the village on the river Sit Sonkovo . The village in its present form emerged in 1920 through the merger of the village and hamlet Bogoyavlenskoye Peter . According to some reports Bogoyavlenskoye village known since the 15th century as the possession of the Holy Trinity - Sergius Monastery . In the hamlet was Petrovsky country estate . The owners of the estate were the nobles Semenov .
