Default "Afternoon in the Park"

Martin H. (By name). "Afternoon in an English park." Oil on canvas. 70x90 cm Western Europe, presumably England, late XIX - early XX century. The Italian baguette Craquelure, small defects of the paint layer, worn canvas on the reverse side of the canvas at the bottom of the picture - a restoration patch. Judging by the signature and handwriting of this creative picture painted by the English artist - landscape painter H. Martin, who worked at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Realistic landscapes masters as a rule, are made according to the picturesque trends of his time in the "free" manner - broad, slightly pasty brush strokes that make a colorful canvas surface relief. "Rocker" structure of the composition, framed by images of trees, I respect the author's attitude to the traditional academic heritage of European painting schools, and at the same time brings to the harmony and balance sheet; overgrown river slowly flowing in the direction of the bridge, takes the viewer into the depth of the picture, there where the trees are filled with midday light, illuminating the fragile figure of a woman gazing into the distance. The whole landscape, imbued with peace and tranquility, shade is "lyrical" nature inherent to many artists of the romantic turn of the century. Martin's paintings have a history of sales in the European auctions.
