On the eve of the famous painting is a masterpiece of English painter John Constable's "The Hay Wain" ("wagon with hay", 1821), located at the permanent exhibition of the National Gallery in London was subjected vandalisticheskoy attack. The protagonist, Paul Manning, 58 years old, a member of the activist organization "Fathers 4 Justice" ("Fathers for Justice"), pasted a picture of his eleven-year-son with the words "Help" ("Help") on the image of a cart with hay, a symbol of bucolic English the past. "Fathers for Justice", an organization founded in the UK in 2002 and has received national publicity as a result of their public actions, fights for equal rights for parent-caregiver fathers in family (parent) legislation in cases of divorce.
Fortunately, a masterpiece of Constable was injured and already four hours was put on his doselnoe place in the exhibition. The incident took place simultaneously with the appearance of another activist of the organization Tim Haris in the trial of having to do another act of vandalism two weeks ago. This time, the "father of justice," Harris disfigured Jubilee portrait of Queen Elizabeth - written by Australian artist Ralph Heymans last year and received for this order 160,000 pounds, and put up for display at Westminster Abbey - a characteristic graffiti "Help" made of pink acrylic paint .
In a statement, the organization of "Fathers 4 Justice" has promised to carry out weekly "attack" on the outstanding works of British art in the hope of being heard by the authorities.
