I'm afraid that my answer will not add you to any of optimism and hope.
I think this is clumsy copy of the watercolor sketch of Constantine Tereshkovich to the book of Leo Tolstoy's " Hadji Murat ." A series of illustrations was made Tereshkovichi in 1955. Later there were lithographs with them though.
Signature breaks. Elementary S. entire square, pause between T and E. Time stopped when writing E after missing in the penultimate T. S.
