Genre painting, where she disappeared?
Genre painting can not exist without the genuine interest of people towards each other. Now this is not so - all became isolated. Were, of course, inexperienced artists (especially the young, especially in small towns) that are fully trusted to tell the audience about their life - meetings, travel, family, comfort ... It is usually very boring - it turns an ordinary story about the (alas) ordinary life.

Sure to catch in the everyday something mysterious and uncommon must have talent. But people still need and love, at least sincerely interested in them. Now, on the contrary, people with each other, usually annoying. Why is that? Perhaps because there was some kind of predictability, in stereotyped ways. Life becomes a little boring game, in which there are virtuoso players to learn the rules, and are afraid to deviate from them even one step. Each seeks to become such a player, for many it turns out. But the man in the game tense and fully open to others (including painters))

There was a brief period at the turn of the 80's and 90's, when freedom had fallen and began to see each other not just a faceless creature, and a unique personality. People began to talk freely on the street were little groups talking, could laugh at one and the same.

Then at exhibitions genre reigned. Give it something of painting as such? Of course not. Painting itself can be the content of the picture, in any case, the specific "literary" base it is not necessary for it to flourish.

Recall the misanthrope Cezanne. Most, perhaps, "genre" series in it - gamblers. And what happened? To him they are just an excuse to create a unique pictorial surface, something like a still life of the people. If he fell into the genre (would give those players shades of feeling and expression) a high degree of picturesque certainly would go down. Cezanne some indifference to the people rescued his painting. But it's indifference puts an end to the genre in its classical form. Should I grieve because of this? I do not know. On the one hand oblivion genre shows some of our coldness and numbness, on the other hand it also opens up opportunities for individual unfettered scenic experiences.

In the literature, the crisis much more palpable. She is looking for new forms, but remain without a specific (human) content it is much more difficult than painting. The crisis has crippled humanity literature, which can directly and does not require the emergence of new Dickens, Balzac and Chekhov, but still must pay tribute to the human daily life. And if the person as such is of little interest themselves as such, where will the profound words about him? And what do you do? Describe something inanimate or just play verbal formulas? All that we are actually seeing ...

In painting, do we have a chance to go forward and seems to be something moves forward. Perhaps it is due to move away from the genre, but probably at the cost of our sincerity and warmth in relationships.

Or do we have to learn to love the people in their intimate inner life, turning a blind eye to all external. Find new forms of manifestation of personality. Maybe this will be a dialogue of human and inanimate (but animated the painter) environment, perhaps something else. In any case, to write a banker at a reception at the dentist, say, in my opinion, is no longer possible. Subject, of course, tempting, but away from the post-Soviet style series on the federal TV channel will be incredibly difficult. Not deceive yourself - to love and to feel present in it a fresh breath is possible, but to show their feelings through the genre these days is no longer possible.

And the question either, as such, is very interesting, thank you.
