"Russian Beardsley": Lodygin Sergei Pavlovich (Saratov, 1893 - London, 1961?)
Painter and graphic artist Sergei Pavlovich Lodygina called "Russian Beardsley." But most of it is known very little. Born in Saratov in 1893. He studied at the St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineers. Figures published in the journals "Argus", "Sun of Russia", "Satyricon", "Capital and Country", made drawings of ads. After 1917, painted propaganda posters in Saratov. In 1918, he taught graphic in Saratov Central Studio, simultaneously had his own workshop schedules. In 1920, he worked in the political department of the Army Reserve. Then he moved to Rostov-on-Don, where he wrote the scenery for the village theater, designed the city for the holidays, he worked in the theater decorator interludes Sorin. In 1922 he moved to Moscow, where he again worked as an illustrator. According to some reports, he died in the siege of Leningrad in 1942, while for the others sources - in 1961 in Moscow. For publishing "postcard" in 1915-1916 the artist created a most unusual graphic series of 10 drawings and images of nude female figures in a fantastically exotic surroundings - with snakes, butterflies, orchids, panthers, etc.
