Tomsk Nikolay (1900-1984 ). Sculptor, People's Artist of the USSR (1950). One of the most famous artists of the Stalin era . Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR ( 1949), since 1968 - President of the Academy. Hero of Socialist Labor ( 1970). He studied at the Leningrad Art-Industrial School ( 1923-1927) . From 1942 he lived and worked in Moscow in 1948, he taught at the Moscow Art Institute (Professor since 1949, and rector - in 1964-1970 . ). Chairman of the Moscow branch of the Union of Soviet Artists ( 1951-1956 ).

Tomsk - author of monument to Stalin in the Kremlin Wall (1970). Other monuments sculpture dedicated to Stalin, in particular, in Leningrad - the Baltic Railway Station (1949) , the Central Slingshots ( 1949, now pl. Victory) - were demolished after the XXII Congress of the CPSU.

Tomsk - winner of five Stalin Prizes ( 1941, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1952), winner of the Lenin Prize ( 1972) and the State Prize (1979).
