Verey Litvinchuk
1886 - 1962
Russian and Soviet graphic artist and etcher, lithographer, a master of portrait and landscape. Born in Proskurov (Ukraine) to the family of the entrepreneur. In 1895, the family moved to Kharkov, studied painting at the private studio of EE Schrader (1895, 1900-1904). In 1905 he was arrested for taking part in the revolutionary movement, and then released on bail, after which he emigrated. Visited Austria-Hungary, Germany and Italy. In 1911 he settled in St. Petersburg, where in 1912 he graduated from law school, started at Kharkov University.
Engaged in New Art Studio in Petersburg MVDobuzhinsky, B. Kustodiev, AP Ostroumova-Lebedeva (1913-1916). He was a member of the "World of Art", worked with the magazine "Theater and Art", which used pictures, satire, sketches of theatrical life.
After 1917, he worked in the department of prints Hermitage (1918-1930), taught at the Higher Art and Technical Institute (VHUTEIN) (1918-1922), the Graduate Institute of photography and photographic equipment (since 1918), TsUTR'e (1918-1919) VHUTEMAS'e (1921-1923), he created the Experimental lithographic workshop (Leningrad branch of Union of Artists - LOSH, 1937-1940), which was an important school of art and played a significant role in the development of Soviet lithography. He died in Leningrad.
