Leonid Gershovich born in Kirovograd in Ukraine May 1, 1932 . Before the war, the family moved to Leningrad. He studied at the Leningrad Art Teachers College ( Tauride ) ( 1949-1953) , the Leningrad Institute of Painting , Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin ( 1953-1959 ).
