For 16 years were held in Moscow art fair ART ARENA and the story is somewhat less fair HUDGRAF. Both projects have been extremely popular among artists and audience and attracts a lot of attention of tens of thousands of people, as were able to gather under one roof art Russian avant-garde, socialist realism and numerous art for the last time. The collections exhibited works Goncharova, Larionov, Udaltsova, Konchalovsky, Popkov, Steinberg, Zvereva, Rabin, Nesterova, Nikonov, Nazarenko, and many others. The next fair ART ARENA was held as planned in December. It has already received a lot of applications from galleries in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, from Italy and France.
In connection with the new appointments in the Department of Culture of Moscow and the change of leadership showrooms Big and New Manege, it became known that the newcomers comrades, decided, without further ado, to close the existing projects for many years, ART ARENA and HUDGRAF as "malohudozhestvennye."
In defense of the interests of participants in these studies was a written appeal to the current head of the Department S.Kapkovu signed by the State Prize laureate, academicians and corresponding members of the Academy of Fine Arts, whose names are well known and are the adornment of Russian art.
Reply to the letter from the Department does not consider it possible and lowered his management and the New Manege Manege. With a light hand of the new leadership of the Department in Moscow, both in the capital's cultural life, began converting the grand scale. Come redistribution of artistic values. The first wave touched the theaters of Moscow, now it came up to the exhibition spaces. Came leaders found it possible to close all access to the viewer artists of Russian fine traditions, whether realistic, abstract artists, expressionists. The next step will probably be closing the Surikov Institute and Stroganov, because, as there is not to teach.
The response from the new art director M.Loshak states that are complete rebranding halls, and preference will be given to museums and historical projects.
Although the policy statement, Ms. Loshak announced plans in greater detail and told that, along with museum exhibitions will take place in the halls of the Biennale of Contemporary Art, etc. And Art Manege in this case pointedly rejected as fair "wrong" art. Denied, not only in government support, but the banal rental halls.
Closing Art Manezh in Grand Arena and depriving him of any state support means and closing the whole direction of artists to the public.
