AA Bakhrushin RGALI and private collections. Most of them are exhibited for the first time, and many of them will be a real discovery for the audience.
The basic style of Oste was joining the strict, close the form with elements of constructivism, which owes its origin to the modern age, with the addition of impressions of German expressionism, but that the numerous theatrical works ostovtsev, then they are also very clearly seen close to constructivism. Programs remained was the image of our modern facilities. This goal consistent with the basic expressive techniques. In figures, in mounting a vigorous manner, with contrasts of black and white, sharp silhouettes of the shapes and color spots, with dynamic diagonal compositions and sharp angles, with the pathos embodied scenes work, sports, political events and with equal pressure satirically depict scenes of everyday life ugly. In the Society there were several stylistic variants, some of the canons, the same artists in different ways to work in various genres.
In addition to vigorous or harsh-martial intonations, in the works ostovtsev had a lot of delicate lyrical motifs, sometimes sad music or even openly playing the tragic and dramatic expressionism expression. In "classical" ostovskoy graphics (posters, book illustrations, magazine pictures, theatrical sketches), built on the contrast of black and white, clear silhouettes, energetic, expressive lines (of A. Deineki, M. Dobrokovskogo, V. Lyushina, etc.) , was another "graphic quality" left: watercolor lightness A. Labas, A. Tischler, N. Kupreyanova, V. Alfeevskogo, T. Lebedeva, etc. Moreover, it is in the circle of artist remains we encounter and rare for Russian art works of surrealist plan (work A. Tischler and S. Nikritin). The accuracy of observations small-town way of life handed sharp grotesque series of lithographs in M. Gorshman, urban motifs vividly captured in pictures Perov T. Lebedeva, V. Lyushina. A design of children's books created Denisovsky N., Kozlov, E. Grain, Gurevich, F. Kondratov, M. Granavtsevoy, encouraged naive freshness and clarity of images and sometimes very exquisite craftsmanship.
The declarations of the society and the critics sounded a word about contemporary themes and language of realism, urbanism, etc., but this exhibition shows that in reality the work of artists much wider range of OST and style, and emotional range of perception of the world.
