Last week in New York held a major auction of old masters of Sotheby's and Christie's. The most expensive work was a painting by J. M. W. Turner (JMW Turner) «Temple of Jupiter Panhellenic, which brought 12.9 million * at Sotheby's on January 29. Her estimate was 12-16 million. Sotheby's to insure against the failure of finding a guaranteed buyer, but the precaution was unnecessary: buy the Temple of Jupiter Panhellenic "wanted another bidder, which eventually passed, and painting.
