CAUCASUS SOCIETY OF PROMOTING FINE ARTS
(1873 - 77 years .- Tiflis Kunstverein). Tiflis (1873 - 1921).
In 1877, for mutual financial support combined with local musical society (1871) titled - Caucasian society to promote the fine arts.
Objective:
"a) the promotion of arts education, and b) the development of artistic and musical activities in the Caucasus and c) promote talent in art and music, d) a benefit needy members - specialists of society who have devoted their labors development of artistic and musical activities."
Activities: The device exhibitions (since 1888). Maintaining Drawing School (1874 - 1922). Since 1907 the society received from the Academy of Arts annual subsidy of 2000 rubles for the maintenance of schools.
In 1901 the Society organized the art department Jubilee Industrial Exhibition in Tiflis, in 1902 - art department Caucasian and industrial and agricultural exhibitions. At the end of 1912 at the Society of the Art-Architecture Group (Preds.: OI Shmerling), which set itself the task of studying and collecting the monuments of Caucasian antiquity. On orders from various government agencies team performed measurements of archaeological and architectural monuments, analyze the situation and draft the restoration work.
