Tihany Michael Tikhonovich

    An artist.
    Born a serf of Prince Golovnina. Tihanova talent was spotted at the age of 17 years. Received a scholarship to the passage of the historic education class at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. He was awarded a gold medal for his painting "Execution of Russian patriots in 1812." Freed from bondage, he graduated from the Academy (1815). In 1817 the artist received the sloop "Kamchatka" traveling under the command of Lieutenant-VM Golovnina round the world voyage to the shores of Russian America. The drawings depict Tihanova at home and at leisure, the natives of Russian America, the Fort Ross and Monterey (CA), Hawaii, the islands of Oceania. After staying in the expedition for two years, patients returned to Kronstadt and no longer able to view the health of the arts. 43 pictures are in Tihanova Arts Academy in St. Petersburg.

Tihany (Tikhonov), Michael (1789 - 1862) - an artist of serfs of Prince Golitsyn. In 1806 admitted to the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts as a free pensioner. He studied in the class of historical painting from the artist VK Shebuyev. For the soft painting "Execution of Russian patriots by the French in 1812" was awarded the second gold medal.
