In Bavaria, a cleaning woman at Passau State Library accidentally discovered in one of the stores a unique collection of ancient coins, reports The Local.

According to Tanya Hels, at first it took a wooden box in a box for jewelry. On his finding Hels said library director Marcus Vennerholdu.

Having studied the contents of the box, Vennerhold found in several drawers silver, bronze and brass coins of ancient Greece, Rome and Byzantium. Part of the coins belonged to the era of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Vennerhold collated detected with similar collection of coins on the Internet. Given the fact that some coins are unique in its kind, the cost of collection may reach several million euros.

As explained by library director, the owner of the collection could not be determined. He suggested that it could hide from the authorities in 1803, in the era of secularization, when kept in the monasteries, coins and books were confiscated by the state.

According Vennerholda, the collection will have a library of Passau in very handy. The following year, the library, founded in 1612, will celebrate its 400th anniversary, and rare coins be put on public display.
