In the excellent book by Donald Thompson is a set of rules which paintings are sold, and what does not . Types of women and children are selling better than the old men, but more expensive harness racehorses . Narrative of the best scenery for sale . Etc. This is all the common rules . But there are more private. For example , a New York art dealer David Nash has formulated a very specific rule: the paintings of cows are never sold at a good price .
Sorry to digress from the topic. Just remembered .
