November 4 - Day of Our Lady of Kazan
Fall Festival Our Lady of Kazan - a celebration in honor of the liberation of Moscow from the Poles in 1612.
For a long time in Russia, this day was celebrated as a national holiday . The entire country celebrated the one of the most popular in Russia, Kazan image of the Virgin, which has identified his miraculous intercession for Russia during troubled times.
In 1737 a built in St. Petersburg Cathedral ( Kazan Cathedral) was transferred revered image of Our Lady of Kazan .
Kazan icon was in the militia led by Kuzma Minin and Prince Dimitri of Pozharsky , when Russian troops liberated the Kremlin and Moscow from the enemy. In memory of this event on the Red Square was built Kazan Cathedral, which was liquidated in the summer of 1936.
An important event was observed November 4, 1993 , when Moscow's Red Square was opened on the restored Kazan Cathedral.
