Oil on canvas, Russian painter Vasily Vasilyevich Vereshchagin ( 1842 - 1904). Vereshchagin was one of the most famous Russian battle painters, and one of the first Russian artists to be widely recognized abroad. The graphic nature of his realist scenes led many of them to never be printed or exhibited. Vereshchagin was with the Russian army during the Turkish campaign of 1877. with frame 23 ¾ "x 28 ¾" without frame 15 ¾ "x 19 ¾"

If you compare a photograph of the original painting " mortally wounded ", you can see that all the proportions and details are absolutely preserved. With great confidence I can say that this is an old copy of a well-known work .
