In Georgia, convicted on charges of attempting to illegally export from the country's film "Kakheti wine" - the famous Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani. It is reported by news agency "Novosti-Georgia."
Total convicted five men. Agency calls them names: Gaioz Javakhishvili, David Zirakashvili, Alexander Purtshvanidze, Gela Sanikidze and Zurab Datukishvili.
Due to the fact that they pleaded guilty and cooperated with the investigation, punishment, they were assigned a rather soft. Three received suspended sentences. Two others sent to prison for a year and a half years respectively.
Picture "of Kakheti wine" smugglers tried to bring to Russia via Azerbaijan. Previously this work was kept in a private collection.
Of the arrest of smugglers became known in early April. They were charged under article "Trying to cross-border illegal trafficking of cultural heritage." "The works include Pirosmani to the cultural heritage of the country, people who were going to take a picture of the country did not have that right," - said the representative of the Prosecutor David Sakvarelidze.
According to prosecutors, the smugglers hoped to sell the painting for half a million dollars.
At the present time, "Kakheti wine" is in the museum.
