The sculpture "Girl with a paddle" - a copy of the famous work of Ivan Shadr - will be installed in Gorky Park, September 3 as part of an international regatta, "Golden Boat".
As previously reported, the sculpture is recreated on the basis of the surviving copies of copyright Sculpture I. Shadr stored in the Tretyakov Gallery.
Shadr sculptor began work on the sculpture "Girl with a paddle" to Gorky Park Gorky in Moscow in 1934. According to legend, the basic model of the sculptor was a student of the Moscow Institute of Physical Vera Voloshin.
The sculpture depicted a naked girl in full body with a paddle in his right hand. The height of the figure along with a bronze pedestal was about 12 meters.
The sculpture was installed in the center of the fountain on the main Gorky Park in 1935. However, the sculpture has been criticized in the same year it moved to a recreation park Lugansk.
However, it remained a small copy kept in the Tretyakov Gallery. By the summer of 1936 created a new Shadr enlarged sculpture "Girl with a paddle" of tinted concrete, whose height was 8 feet.
She became a model for the Zoia gymnast Bedrinskaya (Belorucheva). In the new work the sculptor has changed the girl's hair, she became more careless, put the muscles in her arms, the figure of the girl became thinner.
New sculpture "Girl with a paddle" is also found in the center of the fountain on the main thoroughfare of Gorky Park. The sculpture was destroyed in 1941 during the bombing.
