Commemorative coin dedicated to the outstanding Russian painter Isaac Levitan, was released by the Bank of Russia July 1, 2010 in the series "Outstanding Personalities of Russia". Earlier in this series is already out commemorative coin dedicated to the ballerina Galina Ulanova. In the second half of 2010 will release the third and last in this year's commemorative coins in the series, which will be depicted surgeon Nikolai Pirogov. All coins are made of 925-carat quality "proof" and have a nominal value of 2 rubles.

Commemorative coin dedicated to the 150 anniversary of the birth of Isaac Levitan, was carried out using pad printing. The author sketches the coin - the main expert on the design of banknotes of the Bank of Russia Sergei Sutyagin said that the landscape depicted on a commemorative coin was chosen at once. However, since the coin with a diameter of 33 mm it was difficult to put a composite picture with many details, the choice fell on the painting, "Twilight. Moon. " "This is one of the best landscapes Levitan, who looks quite succinctly, - says Sergey Sutyagin - it all simply and beautifully." A fragment of this film, made in color, the most successful was the background image of the obverse coin.

Portrait of Isaac Levitan, according to the artist Sutyagin, can not be attributed to a particular period of his life, it gathers the characteristic facial features landscape.
