I would like to introduce you to a remarkable artist, a poet and a decent, kind man with whom had the good fortune to be friends.

Balakay Vladimir Leonidovich (1928, pp. Styla, Donetsk region. - 11.13.2009, Donetsk).
Painter and poet.
Studied at Kiev Art School Smirnov - Swallow (1946 - 1948), then at the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts (1951 - 1953) in IM Toidze and VI Shuhaeva. His first teacher, says chief artist Donetsk Opera and Ballet, EI Liakhovich (1944). Member of Artists of Ukraine (2008). Has participated in numerous All-Union, republican and regional exhibitions (since 1958). Winner of the Republican exhibition of landscape Memorial AI Kuindzhi "(1973, Mariupol). Works have been exhibited in England (auction BONHAMS, 1996), Germany, Greece, Japan. A great colorist. Vigorous pasty brushstroke and subtle color combinations distinguish early works by the artist. In the late 1990's started to work on new cycle of paintings "of the Duma sent down" and "Submission of Repentance", shows them at exhibitions in Donetsk (2000, 2002, 2006), Mariupol (2006). Author of 5 books of poetry (1995 - 2006). Through the maternal line great-grandson of the artist Cyriacus Kostandi (1852 - 1921). Pictures are stored in the Odessa XM, XM Donetsk, Mariupol KM Gorlovsky KG, patriarch of Constantinople, the residence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in many private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
