I will try to continue a theme:

Here, he writes his wife Nina Kandinskaya about this period in his memoirs, Kandinsky and I (Kandinsky und Ich):

At the beginning of the war, came to Russia, Kandinsky, relied on his short stay in Moscow. But it turned out to entire families of infinitely long years. Specifically, Kandinsky loved Russia, and more or less feel good in Moscow, although Munich has always remained in his heart. From Munich he went regularly once a year to Russia to see their parents and to visit relatives. When we had got married, my mother was afraid that we will now conduct more time abroad than in Russia. Instinctively, she had to feel like Kandinsky very dependent on his second homeland, and therefore we had to promise her that we will live for at least several months a year in Moscow, a promise that we could do easily, as Kandinsky owned his own house with 24 apartments in Moscow. On the fifth floor he lived himself and for us it was a decision, what we in the first case, would use this apartment. And my mother had been pacified. Originally Kandinsky wanted to sit on the sixth floor, where it specifically for its own purposes all settle, but at the time when he went to Germany, this apartment rental surrendered his brother-in-law, whom Kandinsky found as manager of the house. And so it happened that Kandinsky had to live after his return from Germany some time in the hotel. When suddenly the fifth floor has been released, Kandinsky did not hesitate a long time and moved into this apartment. By the way, flat on the sixth floor had a small tower, which was accessible only through the underlying premises on the spiral staircase. And from the windows of the towers a magnificent view over the Kremlin. Near the house Kandinsky was free land, which Kandinsky got to build himself a villa. Plans for extensive construction of a spacious studio already existed, but the revolution crossed all our calculations. The villa is not built, even worse: Kandinsky lost during the expropriation of property and on his apartment building.

It is from the windows of the house overlooks imprinted Wassily Kandinsky in his canvases: Moscow, Smolensky Boulevard Zubovsky Boulevard (all 1916) ... But then there were "vague" ...
