A little surprised attribution Lot № 113 "twisted AE (1886-1968). Portrait of an unknown."

In my opinion, this is a portrait Ktorova Anatoly Petrovich.

Ktorov, Anatoly Petrovich (1898-1980),Russian film and theater actor. People's Artist of USSR (1963).

Born April 24, 1898 in Moscow. In 1919 he graduated from Studio Theater. Komissarzhevskaya (director F. Komissarzhevsky). Teacher Ktorova, in determining his creative destiny, was the legendary Hilarion singers. Singers began teaching at the studio in 1916, when Ktorov was a freshman. It is I. Pevtsov defended Ktorova when its after the first course attempted to expel him from the studio for the professional unsuitability (in the young actor a little stutter). Ktorov was left in the studio, and since 1917, in parallel with the study, took part in performances to them. Komissarzheskoy.

In 1920 A. Ktorov joined the troupe Korsch, where he played the most diverse roles. Already in those years, critics noted most gifted actor, the desire for a complex psychological picture of the role and to the elegance of the form. Theatre Korsch (who in 1925 was granted the status of state and given the name Comedy Theatre) enjoyed great popularity in Moscow. Permanent partner Ktorova was his wife, leading actress of the theater, Popova, acknowledged that the criticism of one of the best theater actresses of the time. Performance Bride (with Popova in the title role), delivered on stage V. Sakhnovski former theater Korsch in 1932, began to Moscow this theatrical event. Ktorov played in this production role Karandysheva.

Since 1925 Ktorov filmed in the new Soviet cinema, and soon became the star of the screen. In his works wonderfully blended refined elegance and a salon shine with a bright comedic talent. Its role is equally enjoyed resounding success with viewers and melodrama, and comedy. Tape cutter from Torzhok, process about three million, the Feast of St Jorgen, which shone A. Ktorov and I. Ilyinsky, have become classics of cinema. Apex of cinematic art Ktorova at the time was Paratov role in the film Ya Protazanov Bride. The charm and appeal of this image made Ktorova benchmark of male beauty. Incidentally, it was about Ktorove spoken of as the last Soviet artists, impeccably knows how to wear coat and hat.

In 1933, after the closure of the former theater Korsch, Ktorov joined the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked until his death. However, in his creative life of the Moscow Art Theater there was difficult. In the early years he played mostly glands and occasional roles: Sam Weller (Pickwick Papers), Shervinsky (Days of the turbine), Joseph Serfes (The School for Scandal), Dolgorukov (Last Days), Skrobotov (Enemies). In the postwar period had more roles: Serebryakov (Uncle Vanya), Autolycus (Winter's Tale), Suslov (Vacationers) Zabelin (Kremlin chimes), etc. And none of these roles did not become a theatrical event. Breaks between the roles were enormous, the actor has repeatedly tried to leave the theater. Almost three decades and the work was interrupted Ktorova in the cinema.
It seemed that his creative life complete. All the more stunning was the huge success of Ktorova in a very complicated role of Bernard Shaw (Dear Liar), in the play, almost devoid of plot and external actions. The performance lasted for MHATovskoy scene fourteen years, from 1962 to 1976, and all this time enjoyed a warm love of the audience. Unfortunately, other equivalent Ktorovu roles in the theater no longer had a chance to play.

The same situation repeated itself in cinematic fate of the artist: in 1965-1967 Ktorov brilliantly played old Bolkonsky in the film War and Peace (statement of S. Bondarchuk). However, this is truly a triumphant, return to the screen leaving only a single job.
Despite the unfortunate few roles played, the name A. Ktorova became legendary. It is an integral component part of the glorious cohort "mhatovskih elderly", embodying the highest professionalism, talent and true dedication to the theater.
A. Ktorov died in Moscow on 30 September 1980.

Filmography: His call (1925), 1925 Tailor from Torzhok (1925), Chess fever (1925), The process of the three million (1926), Who are you? (On the other side slits) (1927), the Feast of St. Jorgen (1930), Puppets (1934), Bride (1936), The School for Scandal (1952), War and Peace (1967), Ambassador to the Soviet Union (1969).
