By the way, I looked all the lots, which took place at Sotheby's or Christie's as "Attributed to Nicolaes Eliasz., Called Pickenoy", "Circle of Nicolaes Eliasz. Pickenoy" and so, well, a couple of works without these boxes there, too, in the archives there. Nearly all in the technique of "oil on panel", and the way they always up to several times more than proposed. Works on canvas, not at all (or rather, there is one sold at Christie's with the attribution "Follower of Nicolaes Eliasz., Called Pickenoy" - that is, in fact, a later copy).
Given the small size of the work suggests that this is really late copy of a fragment of a large portrait.
