National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia, initiated the program "Revival Tatev" Monastery is located 280 kilometers from Yerevan, one of the most beautiful places of Armenia. (Work will begin in 2011 and be completed by 2013.) Built in the IX century, the monastery Tatev was the political center of the Armenian Kingdom of Syunik, in XIV-XV centuries became a center of science and education. It operated the famous school of miniature Tatev. One of the most interesting sights of the monastery is the seismograph Gavazan - a massive eight-meter high tower topped by a swinging cross-stones, which can swing from the slightest of seismic vibrations.
Considering this complex as one of the most attractive tourist sites, it was decided to focus its efforts on creating a tourist center with a modern infrastructure and a thriving local communities.
Program Fund "Revival Tatev includes work on the restoration of the monastery complex, the revival of monastic and academic traditions, the construction of roads and hotels, as well as the construction of the longest cableway in the world.
Lion's share of funding for this program took over the fund "Ruben Vardanyan and Veronica Zonabend and friends" which joined the action about a hundred businessmen of different nationalities.
The total cost of the program "Revival Tatev amounted to $ 50 million. About 28 million dollars allocated fund "Ruben Vardanyan and Veronica Zonabend and friends, the rest of the financing fell on the shoulders of other members of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia and the State. In particular, the Armenian government funded the construction of a 26-kilometer stretch of road from the highway to the monastery Tatev.
This cable car (the highest point above the gorge 330 meters and the length of 5,7 km) meets all international standards, including the most stringent safety standards and have the most opening day (October 16, 2010) passed the test with flying colors by the storm. What will be really exciting to see the tourists for its charming spectacle.
