Member of USSR Academy of Arts (1949).
Studied at the Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts (1892-1900) y V. Mate and Ilya Repin,
worked in Paris (1898-99) in the workshop of John Whistler.
Member of the World of Art "(from 1899) and" Four Arts "(1924).
Known primarily as a master of the landscape, marked the beginning of the revival of Russian original (including color), woodcuts, also worked in lithographs and watercolors. Representing the core views of St. Petersburg, then Leningrad and its environs, revealing an organic fusion of architecture with nature,
