Solomatkin - one of zamechatelneyyh underrated figures of Russian art. He was never in the mainstream, it is not as well known. I think it is very important landmark on the other, alternative ways of development ruska art, the opposite direction of the Wanderers. This is the path of the icon through parsuna through such masters as Argunov, Vishnyakov, Antropov, Fedotov, Venetsianov to Larionov and Goncharova.
This is an amazing artist. His literary apparent. It certainly is, but all is redeemed his magical paintings. It's like Fedotova - everything is there, and the plot, and morality, and the mass of domestic details, but his paintings are going out, forgetting about all these subjects and morality.
And here at Perov it was never forgotten, although he, of course, a wonderful artist - but very different.
So in this amazing picture. You are all true write about everyday details (costumes, instruments) - but it absolutely brilliant painting! What expression! And nothing more!
