A pupil of L. Lagorio and A. Bogoliubov, the marine painter Nikolai Gritsenko accompanied the Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich on his tour to the East. In 1894, Gritsenko left the service of the Navy and was appointed painter to the Maritime Ministry. He produced numerous marine oils and watercolours depicting seascapes and the coastline of European Russia and Siberia. Gritsenko, Nikolai Nikolaevich, the famous Russian seascape painter, a disciple of L. Lagorio and A. Bogolyubov. In 1890, accompanied by Prince Nicholas, the then heir to the throne, on his journey to the East. In 1894, left the service in the Navy and was appointed artist to the Admiralty. Wrote a lot of paintings and watercolors depicting views of the sea, harbors and different localities of European Russia and Siberia. 14 x 22cm (5 1 /2 x 8 11/16in)
