U.S. law enforcement and charged seven suspects in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit prints by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali and other famous artists, reports the Associated Press.
District Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald (Patrick Fitzgerald) at a press conference that the defendants were hunted fakes for about eight years and received over five million dollars in profit.
Price counterfeit prints up to 50 thousand dollars, scammers they sold their art-dealers, as well as exhibited on the popular Internet site eBay. Buyers of fakes are citizens of the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and Japan.
According to preliminary data, direct production of engravings, forged signatures of artists and certificate of authenticity involved two suspects living in Italy and Spain.
Patrick Fitzgerald said that U.S. authorities will seek their extradition.
