For some reason I was reminded of "guessing" in the exams at MSU.
Shows a picture, and you had to put one of two options (some say so):

1) The artist of this fact, the year of execution about such and such.
2) Venice, 16 th century, the author, or unknown, or does not apply to the principal, or a little-known work of a painter or architect.

But God forbid were to say "Florence 15 century" instead of Masaccio, Botticelli, Bramante, or, some known to work!

During the "guessing" the professor slipped me a piece of "Transfiguration" by Raphael, it was enough to tell the school and period, but I'm guessing.

And then he slipped me a completely obscure the picture, but I said the name of the author.
