It is interesting to compare the experiences. I was at a personal exhibition of Hopper at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne a few years ago. There were a lot of visitors, and of different ages.
Some things to happen were there one of those that you show, and some did not (eg, a magnificent self-portrait).
There's a whole room of self-portraits in different years, but they all seem to be portraits of unknown men for the artist. He seemed completely devoid of emotion, but the viewer of his work like a funnel tightened, especially landscapes. The only thing where emotions are manifested - is the image of women, and there all painfully laid bare, the passion and hatred.
