Peter Alexandrovich Nilus (8 (21) February 1869 - May 23, 1943, Paris).
Born parental homestead in Podolia.
Since 1876, he lived in Odessa, he studied at the real school of Peter and Paul. In 1883-1889 he studied at the Odessa Art School in K. Kostandi. Then continued his studies at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts Ilya Repin (from 1889 to 1890). He left the Academy of Arts on the advice of Ilya Repin, who believed that not every talent, the Academy is good, otherwise it just standardizes.
He exhibited his works at exhibitions Wanderers. One of the founders of the Society of South Russian Artists (1890) - younger brother of the Association of Artists, the Wanderers.
In 1920, the general flow of emigration, the artist left the country. Since 1924, he lived in Paris.
