The Hermitage Foundation is proud to present summer of 2010 a large retrospective of Edward Hopper (1882-1967), one of the most famous American artists of the twentieth century. With a large number of works, mostly from the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, whose history is closely connected with the artist, the exhibition includes more than 160 papers describing all periods of art Hopper. Organized in a chronological and thematic order, it also includes a magnificent collection of drawings, watercolors and prints, to show the creativity of the artist.
"My aim in painting has always been to move with the greatest accuracy are my impressions of nature" - Hopper explained, adding, "If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint."
