Alexandre-Gabriel Dean (born Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps; March 3, 1803, Paris - August 22, 1860, Fontainebleau) - French painter and graphic artist, representative of academic art.
He was a student of Alexander Aleli de Piozholya but formed rather than due to his lessons as a direct study of nature. From the first steps in the arts showed an unusual talent, soon became one of the main representatives of the romantic trend in the French academic school, along with Ingres, Delacroix and Delyaroshem, an acknowledged master of the romantic landscape.
The artist is very prolific and varied - painted in oils and watercolor genre scenes, historical paintings, landscapes and animals, lithographed, many of his own compositions, was an illustrator and cartoonist, reflecting the cartoons political events and social mores.
