Cassis landscape painted in 1923, was discovered during the previous evaluation, held in Canberra. A provenanced work has been inherited by relatives of Australian artist Sidney Smith Woodward (1904-1972). Previously, she was in the collection of art patron Ae JL McDonnell, which organized an exhibition of paintings and Alexander Shukhayev Jacovleff at Macquarie Galleries in Sydney in 1929.
In its original frame, a number of exhibition back label if the direction of contemporary illustration work can be found in the magazine Art in Australia ", May 1936. Articles in it showcases Ae JL Macdonnell collection, which at that time was on loan to the University of Sydney Union. In 1961 the collection was returned to McDonnell, and apparently left.
