From the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, was kidnapped five paintings, including works by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. According to the authorized persons, the picture disappeared from the museum building this morning.

In particular, the keepers of the museum were missing paintings by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Amedeo Modigliani and Fernand Leger, the Associated Press reports citing an anonymous law enforcement source in Paris.

It is assumed that the total cost of painting over 500 million euros.

The area around the museum building was cordoned off from the Seine until Eiffel Tower. At the moment the incident is under investigation. Additional details are still not reported.

The State Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris is part of the Cultural Centre Georges Pompidou, has up to 60 thousand exhibits, which include works by Salvador Dali, Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Kazimir Malevich, as well as the aforementioned authors. The museum is located in one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of Paris - on the right bank of the Seine.
