Holy Fire descended in Jerusalem
Holy Fire, which is considered one of the wonders of Orthodox Christianity, came down on Saturday, April 3, in the temple of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
The fire was kindled after the prayer of the patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilus and tens of thousands of pilgrims who filled in predpashalny day temple square in front of him and the adjoining streets.
Holy Fire appeared in Edicule - the chapel inside the church, above the stone bed, which, as Christians believe, rested captured to cross the body of Jesus Christ.
The patriarch was in Edicule without any artificial means to get fire. When the miracle happened, he began to distribute the particles of the flame to pilgrims.
Those candles are lit, the fire by sharing with neighbors. For a few seconds the flames spreading throughout the temple, splashed on the square in front of him, spreading to neighboring streets.
Believers literally wash the fire, which, they claim, in the first few minutes does not burn.
