Oxford musicologists have completed a project to create musical instruments depicted in the famous triptych Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights." It turned out that most of them unsuitable for the game because of design features, and those that play can be heard "disgusting."
In fact, to construct a ten instruments with pictures, scientists and artists from the Oxford Museum of musical instruments named Beth, took a few months. Part of the instrument craftsmen to produce failed. According to museum director Andy Lam, you can play on only two instruments - the flute and drum.
Made by "drawing" Bosch lute falls apart when you try to configure it, lyre does not play a single melody, and in addition to her on one string more than you need, the harp can not play an octave, and from the pipe can not remove the natural scale.
Despite the failure of the project Lam said that he was worth the effort as possible to "expand the boundaries of music education."
Bosch's triptych "The Garden of Earthly Delights" is considered the most famous artworks. There are many interpretations of this painting, but none are recognized as the only right one. Tools that British scientists have designed, are shown on the right wing of the triptych, called "Music Hell." "The Garden of Earthly Delights" is stored in the Prado Museum in Madrid /lenta.ru
