In the Internet on Oct. 18 opened to access the database objects of art looted by the Nazis during World War II, reports Associated Press. In the list of nearly 20,000 objects, taken from occupied Belgium and France in 1940-44, respectively.
Feature of this database is that it does not just contain information about the paintings or sculptures, but consists of digitized archives of the Second World War. In these documents, in addition to guidance on this or that stolen piece of art, it also contains photos, information about who was his master, and that if he was returned to him. Creating a database by the Association of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. At its formation we used the data of the National Archives U.S. Bundesarhiva, as well as other German and French archives. According to the authors list, during the Second World War the German-occupied territories were deported nearly 650,000 works of art.
