Russian week in London

After 10 days, begins week of auctions of Russian art in London. At this time all auction houses, without exception, have prepared a very weak collection. Perhaps this is because the owners have decided to withhold their work to better times, but by the end of November, we get an interesting effect: the fact that the offer for sale are not sold and would be at the top of the boom, but when it does not sell now, all will be screaming the crisis in the art market, not to mention the extremely low quality of the goods.: mad:

You can even choose from their catalog ...

Kandinsky? is very fond of him, but a piece of paper the size of 29h29 for 100-150 thousand pounds - is a strong job?

Kharlamov? is that for 540-770 thousand?? sincerely think so? or the one who for 390-540?

Exeter and it is no one beyond doubt?

Vera Rokhlin it is, sorry, what's the difference, that so much cost?

qwerty 17.11.2008 11:32

Meister, young man! Exter likely fake. Even forgot to mention a terrible torso Archipenko: eek:

Do not make me a Russophobe. Painting is a good and fair, regardless of place of manufacture, in this case, the majority of work is very average, there are no masterpieces - I am buying at these auctions since 1997 and is the first case where there are no strong things.
And if things are at least some interest (eg, early Kandinsky small), then prices bunched shamelessly. My prediction: at these auctions will be sold no more than 40%of lots. I'd be extremely happy if my prediction will be wrong. This is possible only in one case, if aukiony will not normally collectors and artdilery and inexperienced, napuganye investors, but it is - hardly.

Here is the torso of Archipenko? Who never sold.
Yes he looked - he had $ 310,000 - 460,000
Prior to that exhibited in Zurich for 22 729 - 27 275 USD, then Christies, New-York left 7200 USD, then Christies, New York, Rockefeller Plaza 18 000 - 24 000 USD is not sold
