This engraving, carved out of an old Japanese book. 2 sheets is normal, just a book spread. The author does not understand, his signature on the engraving there. Maybe his name is in the inscription on the fields, but there is cropped and I can not read.
Hieroglyphics on the engraving - is its name, the lower character "Tiger", the top can not be identified.
Funny the way engraving, I like :)

The old and rotting mat that was on gravyurke the reverse side was written in pencil "Fire Tiger" (?), K. Hokkusay, and the stamp of the old Soviet kommisionki ...

It is quite possible. Hokusai illustrated with the author of numerous books and engravings done skillfully, so that may well be his work. Fire - very similar, I had this version of the first character seems to he in some exotic old spelling.
Well, as you all know and is :)

Oh yeah, forgot to rate.
It is difficult to estimate an engraving from the book, they usually do not represent investment value, unlike the books entirely.
Here's a link to throw the book Hokusai on eBay, the auction next week is over, and find out how much is sold a book of 58 pages.

I think high prices will leave it (although the state is not very good), but less than $ 1000 dollars. And then, in principle it can be divided into sheets and sold as separate prints for interior decoration :)

Yes, I do not know ... I just wanted to know bolshe.Mne important expert opinion, rather than what is written there and that I considered there.

As for the paper .. paper, apparently hand-made (cooking?) Very thin, loose in places almost shining through ... to the light particle neperevarivshiesya rice straw, some fibers neizvesno of what ..... At light traces of wire mesh, apparently when it was filtered pulp ...
Today, under careful examination was noted that the impression that the engraving is made in several stages ... by my calculations, from 4 - 5 boards ... in 3 colors ...
black (almost faded), gray, and red (pink? ..), barely visible traces ...

Yeah, it all comes down, it's just 2 pages of books like the one on which I gave a link. There are many volumes of Hokusai was issued. If you dig in the archives, you probably can find this and a tiger, learn from what it is volume, but it may take a long time, and am not sure that it is very important ...

Yes, of course, in any case, it is more expensive, and in general I think this is a cool tiger. Although I may be biased, because all the old Japanese tigers indifferent :)

But I've been a case (curiously, a lottery), remembered in connection with an engraving on rice paper:
I bought some time at Aunt "karbute (British fleas, which come in cars and sellers, and buyers) for 50 pence a little book, and in the booklet picture (approximately 20H25sm or approximately 18h20) was founded. And this is my aunt liked this picture ..
And hung this picture (just) in her kotedzhike until her area did not come to BBC (BBC) program "Antique Road Tashkent Show" (where the audience brings, brings all the difference and experts from London to appreciate and love to confess, what they think and know about each thing)
So, this was the imprint kartinochka Japanese woodcuts from the 18 th century estimeytom 8000 pounds ..
Expression aunt's face was indescribable ...

I'm not special, but I really like these stories ...
Maybe your from this series?
Keep up to date.

The engraving was in color, depicting a lady (Geisha ") with an umbrella and butterflies (butterfly?)
