Malraux's father was a banker, but the son chose a different path. After graduating from the Lycée Condorcet, and the National School of Oriental Languages, Malraux went to Indochina. Later in China, carried away by the concept of communism. The Spanish Civil War has radically changed his political views. Malraux wrote several books: "The temptation of the West", "The Conquerors", "The destiny of man." During World War II, escaped from German captivity and became the hero of the French Resistance.
