Lithography Munch sold for record sum
 

In London, sold lithograph "Madonna" by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. As reported on the auction site Bonhams, it bought for 1.252 million pounds sterling (1,9 million U.S. dollars).
AFP notes that "Madonna" by Munch was thus the most expensive lithography ever sold at auction in Britain.
The name of the buyer is not called, we only know that it is a private person from the United States.
Prior to the auction price works was estimated at 500-700 thousand pounds.
Hand-painted lithograph measuring 60 by 44 inches is dated 1895, as evidenced by the inscription in pencil in the lower right corner. We also know that until 1902 the artist reworked "Madonna" several times.
