Yesterday, the opening of the Center Photos behalf of the Lumiere brothers (Marsh embankment d.3 p.1) in the "Red October".
Emergence of the Center - an event of great magnitude. In addition to the Center exhibition halls and galleries of photos, a library, lecture hall, cafe and art shop, where a lot of literature on the photos (fotomasterstvu books on the history of photography, catalogs large photos, etc.). This, in my opinion, a big step forward, as earlier for the photographic community have not been a place where the exhibition would be held, while master classes and where I could find plenty of useful literature.
"We need institutions that allow to seriously address the legacy of Russia and Soviet photography: to demonstrate its high level of the museum, to collect material for his research, publish books, photo albums, enhanced image, attracting well-known practitioners and theorists to conduct master classes and lectures" - says Natalya Grigoryeva, director of the gallery. Photographic Center opens the exhibition "Icons 60-80-x", which features some 300 pictures of various photographers. Subjects works - репортажный portrait. In photographs of famous actors, television personalities, athletes, singers, etc.

Big plus: the exhibition were the work not only already well-known photographers of the sixties, but rather rare names. Mikola Gnisyuk, for example. Personally, I really like his work, they are human, they are not posing, all natural and at ease.
