In another study conducted by scientists from the University of New York, three groups of people took part in the auction, but with different consequences for each group. Some were simply asked participants to place bets, the second promised to give a bonus of $ 15 dollars in case of winning, and the third threatened with deprivation of 15 dollar bonus in case of loss. In the end it turned out that those who are threatened with deprivation of $ 15, made the biggest bet.

These findings contradict the previously prevalent idea that the rate increase depends on the desire to win. According to Professor Nigel Niholson: "People hate to lose more than they love winning."

Researchers believe that this trend is much more common even for the Internet, but for normal sedentary auctions. However, they are confident that this study will help to understand the decision making process including the stock market.
