Vladimir Orlovsky Donatovich was born in Kiev, where the city school received my first lessons in drawing I. Soshenko. While studying at the Academy of Fine Arts (1861-1868) Young B. Orel visited many places of European Russia: in the Crimea, Kiev and Tauride provinces, Moscow, Finland. For studies and student work academics won two silver and a small gold coin.
