Born into a Jewish family, the father - a craftsman. In 1909-1910 he studied at the Vilna Art School, where he met Soutine and Kikoin. In 1912 he settled in Paris in an international dormitory artists Beehive (born La Ruche). I became acquainted with Chagall, Leger, Zadkine, Modigliani, Derain. In 1914, three sculptures exhibited at the Salon independent. In the First World War he lived in Paris. During this period, his paintings began to be interested in Parisian collectors (Paul Guillaume, Leopold Zborowski). In 1918 he settled in Ceret, flock to Paris in 1920 traveled a lot (Corsica, Sweden). World War II held in the south of France, in the department of Corrèze, was an employee in the village. In 1945 he settled in Sere. When the artist's life of his solo exhibitions are not just held in Paris, as well as in London, Philadelphia, Lausanne, Geneva, etc. |
