Painter and graphic artist.
Born in a family of merchants. The first artistic skills obtained in the 2 nd in the gymnasium of the Kharkov DI Bezperchego. In mid-1870's worked in the studio EE Schrader in Kharkov. In 1878-1883 he studied at the IAH PP Chistyakov, M. Klodt, VD Orlovsky. At the same time preparing for entrance to the conservatory. Because of illness did not finish his studies at IAH and returned to Kharkov.
Lived in Kharkov, Kiev, Odessa, from mid-1910's - in Zmiev near Kharkov. In 1895 and 1899-1900, he traveled to Europe, visited France, Switzerland and Italy. He lectured at the Kharkiv drawing school Ranevskaya, M. Ivanova, in 1898-1899 - in the Central Stroganov School of Technical Drawing in Moscow, the professor. In 1899 he became one of the founders of the Kharkov Society of Fine Arts.
He worked primarily as a landscape painter, wrote to the interiors. Participated in exhibitions TPHV (1886-1904), the Moscow Society of Lovers of Fine Arts (1890-1913, with interruptions), the Association of Artists "Mignon" (1905), the Moscow Association of Artists (1906, 1912). He was a member of the Association of South Russian Artists.
Exhibitions of works Levchenko passed in 1918, 1929, 1939, 1956, 1986.2006. in Kharkov, in 1956 - in Kiev.
Levchenko works are in several museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, Kharkiv Art Museum, National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev.
